How to Build a DIY Custom Entertainment Center using Butcher Block

How to Build a DIY Custom Entertainment Center using Butcher Block

Well be going over how to build a custom entertainment stand, using Birch butcher block.

The final stand is 19.5”H x 50”W x 19”D, but of course you can make one as deep, wide or high as you’d like.

Shout out to my sister and her fiancé for letting me use their table saw.

  1. Looks awesome, would you install built in cable management?

  2. I don’t get it. Where does the third lowest part comes?
It is not in the video. Where do the feet connect ground while also holding the 3rd part.
    Anyone?

  3. Many of these DIY projects look cheesy. I can honestly say, I really like what you did here. I might actually consider this style of build. Along with using your method to make a taller and not as wide set for Vinyl record storage and turn table stand. Good work man!

  4. Nice work. Brilliantly done. Time consuming but we’ll worth it. Wait until you have guests and they say " beautiful stand, where did you get it? Your response "Built it myself 😊😊". That smile alone is worth the time and effort Bruh!!!

  5. I swear.. I love watching these videos in 4k hlg hdr

  6. Love your videos but for some reason only your channel seems to disable my blue light filter on my phone. I keep blinding myself.

  7. Love this video! In future if you slightly thin the poly slightly you will have a better finish. You will need a few more coats but the viscosity breaks down slightly and you have no bubbles or brush/foam lines. Learned this making a smiling style table

  8. Very nice DIY, Villaman. What length pipe did you use?

  9. Nice work, the only thing I do different and it really doesn’t matter, after I sand the wood, I wipe it down with Mineral Spirits, fantastic work!

  10. Beautiful.🌹👌

  11. Thats a really great Idea, Thanks for sharing!!!

  12. Great job!

  13. I love that shirt color looks great also. I check but u don’t have that one.

  14. Very refreshing presentation..u rock..
    Thanks

  15. Solid brah🤙🏽

  16. Love custom stuff. DIY is smart for certain things.

  17. Hi tha_villaman i need help finding the crossover for a sony ss-cs8. What do i do to find it and what is the crossover?

  18. Really nice unit dude!

  19. So glad I found this…building one myself.. butcherblock top..perfect

  20. Came out great!!

  21. try a pre-stain next time and machine sand for a better smoother finish I did a dining table that way

  22. Very nice work, I love the look of the table. I have been watching your videos this weekend and I enjoy your content. I will be subscribing to your channel.

Long time watcher, newer subscriber. I have thoroughly enjoyed your videos over the years!

In fact, you have helped motivate me to throw my hat into the home audio/visual ring. Your editing and quality are where I want to get. Just now taking this YouTube thing seriously, thanks to channels like yours.

I gave you a shoutout in my video with my channel in the name. I hope you don’t mind!

Cheers, my friend and happy listening!

I’ve been looking at some DIY rustic/industrial low TV stands builds, and this is one of the easier ones to follow, especially with such a simple, functional, and good-looking design. I am thinking of modifying your build to only have one shelf because I want to place this stand in front of my unused fireplace, which as a 2" hearth. Thank you for sharing your build!

  25. VillaMan – great project, thank you! Where did you buy the butcher block?

  26. Man! Beautifully done!!

  27. Looks great! Very jealous but inspired to follow suit with my own version. Really like the idea of it being adjustable. Thanks

  28. Beautiful..what did you use to tilt center speaker up?

  29. Did you Stain both sides of the butcher block?

Villa man can you please include the link for the metal legs ?

  31. Jason Maxwell and his bikes February 18, 2021 @ 4:05 pm

I missed it I think how long are the bars you used and what is the overall height of the stand? Thanks I’m thinking of making one I really like it

  32. Pre stain, Nice bristle brush, or wipe the stain in, which I feel shows more grain. Use a tack clothe to remove dust. More layers of finish. Use semi gloss finish for the first 2-4 coat, then finish with satin finish. Sand with finer sand paper between the final finish coat. Great job and I love the table.

  33. Great job Tha_VillaMan. How can I send you a picture of my living room so you can give me ideas of placing my speakers for my Home theater? Thanks

  34. Thats brilliant! I first wanted to use some brick type stones as legs but now I’d like to build it with the pipes and clamps! Are the clamps strong enough to hold the shelves with the speakers and electronics?

  35. Looks great and is easy enough to build. I think I’ll do this to replace the two IKEA Lack tables my TV is currently sitting on (with a huge gap in the middle).

  36. I’m building a six-foot version right now. I noticed, after I’d ordered them, that the pipes and flanges you link to on Amazon are actually 1-1/4" instead of 1" like you used here. It’s turned out okay, though. I grabbed a 1-3/4" forstner bit and went with it since the larger diameter pipe looks good with the 6′ butcher block. I also used a spade bit after I got the forstner started because the spade can take out a large amount of the center of the hole much quicker than the forstner by itself. You end up with a lip in the hole that the forstner bit can sit on, and it cuts that lip really fast since the center is already cleared out. Thanks for posting this. I’m excited to see mine all set up.

  37. Love this. Going to build one very similar.

  38. Do you think this would work well using a 3/4in sheet of plywood instead of butcher block?

  39. Can you list the supplies you used

  40. Fate I Cant Escape February 18, 2021 @ 4:19 pm

    Awesome dude! Thanks for sharing!

  41. Fantastic. You have great taste! You could start a business selling these units!

  42. Nice vid as always man. I have a really quick question i just bought a vizio 65 quantum x and on some of your vidoes including this one i am getting these weird horizontal flashing white bars on the very top of the tv. Had me a little worried. My real issue is i have not been able to replicate it with any other hlg or hdr10 content. Only have been able to see it in a few of your vids. Let me know if you have any idea what it could be. Thanks!

  43. wow this was really fun to watch and inspiring… now I just need to break this new TV stand I have under my Sony 950G water 75" TV I saw on this channel be reviewed lol. Only thing I would add to this stand is something in the back to hide the wires. Great job man wish I had the skill or talent to do something like this.

I did the same with Woodprix 🙂

  47. Woodglut is nice for that.

  48. The stand looks great. What kind of center channel is that.

  49. Nice job. I’m going to try this.
